Hunt Closing Soon!

The hunt will end on August 5th (as in, Sunday!) at noon, Pacific Central Time (3pm, EST). At that time:

• Authors will take down the exclusive content on their posts
• The entry forms will close
• And we'll start selecting winners!

It might take us a couple of days to post and contact all the winners--we do sort through all the entries and delete duplicates and check that the answers were correct* for the prizes. We'll also try to have as many authors who did individual blog contests to get us their information so we can post it all in one location, but do check back to any individual author blogs that you entered a contest for that we don't post.

We do hope that you've had a good time with this season's hunt! Thank you so much for spreading the word and getting involved. We are also totally open to any ideas or suggestions you may have for a better hunt next season--the next hunt will be this WINTER, so be sure to check back in November for announcements!

*Several people have had concern about the number Ed posted--he had one number up for a bit, then a different one--either number is correct for the entry form. We sort these by hand, and will accept either number.

So Just What is the YA Scavenger Hunt?

We've been getting a lot of questions lately, and wanted to do a bit of an informative post for all our new readers!

History: The YASH is the brain child of author Colleen Houck, who wanted to give her readers a chance to discover new authors. She came up with the idea of the YA Scavenger Hunt--a blog hop where authors host other authors so that readers can find new, fun YA books to read.

How it works: The hunt happens three times a year. The Summer 2012 hunt starts on August 1st. Here's what will happen:

At noon on August 1st, fifty-four authors will post information from a different author on their website. For example, Author A will host Author B's information. Author B will have info about her book, plus a little something exclusive just for this hunt, such as a character interview, a cover reveal, or something secret that no one else knows. At the end of the post, there's a link to the next author's website, so readers can continue on the hunt directly.

Readers can start with any author--or you can even start here! Over on the STUCK page, we have a full list of every author participating this hunt--start with any author you like!

Each author post has a link to the next author in the hunt--and a clue for you to win the grand prize--a SIGNED copy of each participating author's book!

Hidden somewhere in every post is a number. The puzzle for this year simple: add up all the numbers in the posts. So, if Author A has the number 1, and Author B has the number 2, and Author C has the number 3, then the solution would be 1+2+3 = 6. Keep track of all the numbers you find--because when you add up the numbers, you'll know the code to enter for the grand prize.

This time, the hunt's split into two teams: a red team and a blue team. You can participate in one or both hunts, and the contest is open internationally. Of all the people who enter with the correct code, one person will be awarded all the books from the red team, and one will win all the books from the blue team.
